Hotels for Heroes
Fisher House Foundation administers the "Hotels for Heroes" program, a service that provides free hotel rooms to wounded, injured, and ill military men and women who are undergoing treatment at a military or Veterans Affairs medical center, or their visiting family members or close friends. All requests for a free hotel room are verified by an authorized official. Hotel rooms are made possible through hotel point donations made by individual customers.
Warrior Care Blog
Various blogs offered the Office of Wounded Warrior Care and Transition Policy.
Real Warrior Families
Real Warriors understands military families -- they face real battles that call for real strength. Learn how to prepare a pre-deployment checklist, gather important documents and identify community and military resources, and even find tips on helping your children cope with Mom or Dad's separation.
Outreach Center for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury
Provides information and referrals to military service members, veterans, their families and others with questions about psychological health and traumatic brain injury.
Crisis--Finding Support and Help
Select link you need from the "Crisis" section (Military OneSource).
Counseling
Military OneSource offers short-term, non-medical counseling options to active-duty, Guard, and Reserve members and their families.
National Military Family Association - Operation Purple
The NMFA recognized the need for more resources to support military children. These free, week-long, overnight camps are open to all military children. The program aims to help military kids experience carefree fun while also learning coping skills to deal with war-related stress and fostering relationships with others who know what they are going through.
National Child Traumatic Stress Network
The NTCSN Knowledge Bank provides access and referral to the network's members and resources, either electronically, or through contact with the item's source.
Fisher House
The Fisher House program is a unique private/public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times--during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease or injury.
