JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas --

In 2003, Professor Patricia Kuhl, a co-director of the University of Washington’s Institute of Learning and Brain Sciences, published a study showing that babies were better able to learn new languages when spoken to in-person versus hearing it on a tape recorder. Part of this is due to the ability to pick up visual clues while hearing what is being said. During the pandemic there has been less physical interaction and more interaction through Zoom calls or through the telephone. While these are not optimal, they are one of the few ways we, as humans, can work to stay connected while maintaining the safe distances doctors recommend. The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program continues to offer safe, yet educational opportunities on Facebook at their page here. Check out the events meant to connect wounded warriors and other audience members, giving them a place to converse while learning something new.
