Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, TX -- Things are starting to gear up for the 2018 Invictus Games selection process. The competition will be held in Sydney, Australia October 20 through 27 with competitors from 18 nations competing in 11 different sport events held across Greater Sydney, including Sydney Olympic Park, and on and around Sydney Harbor. Sport events will include:
- Archer
- Rowing
- Powerlifting
- Cycling
- Sailing
- Sitting Volleyball
- Swimming
- Track & Field
- Wheelchair Basketball
- Wheelchair Rugby
The Department of Defense is working to build a capability using cVent event management software to gather Invictus registrant's information including uniform sizes, family information, travel itineraries and types of personal adaptive equipment competitors will bring. They are also working to add data fields for times/distances with the goal of sending the link to the services so they can notify their populations enrolled in their service-specific Wounded Warrior programs.
Competitors wishing to be a part of the Invictus team selection process need to provide official times/distances from competitions, or coaches, within the past 12 months. Service trials are open for those competitors who have no official times posted, but availability is limited and dependent on service-specific criteria for attendance. Please contact your respective Service to inquire about participating in one of the trials listed below if you have no results.
The goal is for the cVent link to go live by January 25th with the application period closing on March 1st and will only be open for Service Members and Veterans enrolled in the service Wounded Warrior Program. Once the application window closes, the Services will identify their top contenders from the applicants in advance of team selection, which will occur in late March.
