JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii—Sixteen warriors enrolled in the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) Empowerment in Transition Program participated in a five-day workshop centered around transitioning from active duty service to civilian life, here.
Additionally, the transitioning warriors had the opportunity to sit in an Employment Boot Camp sponsored and hosted by Deloitte, which was designed to immerse attendees in trainings critical to a successful transition.
“It is so important to arm these warriors with the right tools and resources as they begin this next chapter in their lives,” said Brad Britt, EIT program manager. “From resume writing to dressing for success, we want these men and women confident as they head into the civilian work force or begin their educational goals.”
“Our teammates at Deloitte have been instrumental in providing their extensive Employment Boot Camp,” Britt continued. “They put our warriors through mock-interviews, provided public speaking guidance and tips on building your network.”
The first Employment Boot Camp – EIT collaboration, held at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland in November, gave professional insight into what lies ahead in the civilian sector and provided attendees valuable tools as they navigate what comes next.
"This workshop provides different avenues for people who are struggling with planning out the next chapter in their lives,” said Tech. Sgt. Adam Grimm, an EIT workshop attendee. “Having the combination of trainings provided by the Deloitte staff and the EIT team has been a really great experience.”
“It’s a very new world for a lot of people who are in this program so this is absolutely providing comfort,” Grimm continued. “It feels great to know that I am not the only one who has specific concerns and when you look around and see how your peers are handling certain situations, it allows you to take a nice, deep breath and reset because there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”
