Registration for the 2014 Air Force Marathon opens at midnight EST on Jan. 1 with special New Year's resolution discounts. Participants who register Jan. 1 will save $10 off the full or half marathon and $5 off the 10K or 5K.

The Air Force Marathon takes place Sept. 20, with special events beginning Sept. 18.

"We sell out quickly," said Robert Aguiar, race director. "We encourage all participants to register as early as possible, and the best price is on January 1."

Last year's event sold out in May 2013 and organizers anticipate selling out even faster this year. The number of runners in 2014 will stay the same, capping the participants at 15,000.

The Air Force Marathon is presented by Northrop Grumman, USAA and Boeing. The Sports & Fitness Expo is held at Wright State University's Nutter Center and will be Sept. 18 and 19. The event will also feature a Gourmet Pasta Dinner and Breakfast of Champions on Sept. 19. For race and event costs, plus more information about the race, visit www.usafmarathon.com.

Dave McGillivray, Boston Marathon director, is the featured speaker for the 2014 event. He will speak at the Sports & Fitness Expo, the Gourmet Pasta Dinner and the Breakfast of Champions.

The Breakfast of Champions is held at the Holiday Inn Dayton Fairborn. The breakfast will feature an expert panel, including McGillivray, who will answer runner questions. The event is limited to 200 people.

The Gourmet Pasta Dinner is held in the Modern Flight Gallery of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The event is limited to 900 tickets and sells out very quickly, said officials.
