    Recovery Care Coordinator: Your first step with serious injury or illness

    For military members who have been injured or ill during duty, navigating the journey to recovery through the medical and personnel systems can be overwhelming. This is why the Air Force established the Recovery Care Coordinator position.
  • The Recovery Coordination Program is executed out of the Air Force’s Personnel Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, and provides specialized services to Airmen who suffer a serious combat or non-combat related injury or illness requiring long-term care which could entail an Initial Review In-Lieu-Of, Medical or Physical Evaluation Board to determine overall fitness for duty. This program is accomplished with substantial assistance from strategically placed Recovery Care Coordinators who ensure wounded warriors receive the non-medical support needed throughout recovery.
