JBLM to host Warrior CARE event Aug. 27-31

The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program will host a Warrior CARE Event at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where more than 120 wounded, ill or injured service men and women from across the nation are expected to participate Aug. 27-31, 2018. “CARE” represents several AFW2 support programs: Caregiver Support, Adaptive Sports and Ambassador Workshop, Recovering Airman Mentorship Program and Resiliency Programming, and Empowerment in Transition. RCC talks program, CARE event

The Recovery Coordination Program is executed out of the Air Force’s Personnel Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, and provides specialized services to Airmen who suffer a serious combat or non-combat related injury or illness requiring long-term care which could entail an Initial Review In-Lieu-Of, Medical or Physical Evaluation Board to determine overall fitness for duty. This program is accomplished with substantial assistance from strategically placed Recovery Care Coordinators who ensure wounded warriors receive the non-medical support needed throughout recovery. Drug-monitoring innovations help providers assist patients

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, provides preventive avenues to active duty members and National Guard and Reserve members on active duty status who may be struggling with alcohol or substance abuse.
